When your business’s success relies on an algorithm (which the word in and of itself is intimidating), life can quickly get overwhelming and complicated as you try and navigate a constantly changing environment.
Your ranking in the Instagram algorithm all boils down to this: interactions. The more interactions you have, the better.
Now the question becomes….how do I get more interactions and a higher Instagram ranking?!? And that’s where I come in :)
Experiment with Instagram’s latest features - like reels! Yes it’s basically Instagram’s version of TikTok, but Instagram is looking to promote its newest products so they’ll be giving it an extra boost.
Use Story Stickers like poll, emoji slider, quizzes or questions to encourage engagement. I personally find the polls best for this - it doesn’t require a lot from your followers and gets you those coveted algorithm points.
Comments are key. And how do you get more comments? Conversational captions. This is the hardest thing for me to do too, and so to keep it simple: ask your followers to share their thoughts or feelings, double-tap if they agree, or tag a friend in the comments.
#hashtags I use www.best-hashtags.com to offload hashtag research. I just pop in a key hashtag that relates to my post, and this website will generate a list of the most popular related hashtags.
Cross-promote within Instagram. I know, I hate it when #influencers do this too. But this is why they do it, to increase their algorithm ranking.
Slide into your DMs. DMs are a strong engagement indicator for the Instagram algorithm so keep on top of people who message you and encourage them to send you questions/emoji responses.
As always, it’s super important to monitor the data of your social media posts. Ask yourself questions like - “What about this post made so many people comment? Why didn’t anyone comment on this one? How many people saw this story? How many people participated in this poll?” You’ll see that through analysis, you can find learnings, and then implement those learnings into future strategies and posts for more success!
I hope you find this helpful, and if you need any more guidance or have any questions - shoot me an email or a DM ; )
